It has been a while…

… time sure has flown. I don’t remember initially why I got this wordpress, only that I felt I needed an outlet. Maybe an accountability partner that didn’t judge or have a face… maybe a shout in to the dark that is the void of the net… just to get the thoughts out. Yet, it is odd how things come full circle. I return to this medium to leave some thoughts more…

Is money some kind of intangible power in the sense that the thoughts and feelings it invokes is some kind of ancient evil?

The old saying goes, “Money is the root of all evil.” So, let’s digest this for a second… obviously money is just “paper”, a compilation of materials, that we identify to hold a certain value in exchange for goods or services. The ideal is sound, we inherently control the purchasing power through our collective use of the money in to a certain good or service. It is a “free” market which encourages competition and ensures a certain stability. After the theoretical view, the application of the system goes to shit with peoples’ seemingly endless need to fuck one another over in every sense of the word fuck, be it physical, financially, mentally, any way they can! I have pondered many times what can take the place of money… and have always come away with “nothing”. However a brief conversation with Ryan Flores, got me thinking about this subject again.

The issue with the exchange of money in it’s current form is that it can be manipulated based on negative intention, hence the “root of evil” bit. When viewed through this seemingly unrelated lens of spirituality it is easy to see how people exploit each other to gain more financial wealth regardless of the outcome towards the other person’s well-being.

Can we somehow change the way we “pay” for goods and services?

Are we unknowingly perpetuating a certain spirit of unkind, ill-will towards our brothers and sisters because of the continued exchange of money?

Can we ultimately change our intention behind the things we do?

What does it truly matter?

We can do better.
